Asian Art Museum visit part 1

so back in march, I went to the asian art museum for the first time ever to check out what the fuss was all about.  I found out it had more to offer than originally expected.  At first I thought I was just going to another museum with very few artifacts and just a lot of pictures and descriptions.  Although it wasn't like the other museums I've gone to like the exploratorium and the academy of science, I fully enjoyed being emersed in the asian culture. There were many exhibits but these were the first ones that I got to take a picture before my phone decided to crap out.  The suit of armor was definitely one of my favorites.  When I went back later, the museum took that exhibit down.

Unfortunately the only notes I have...

FINAL POSTER!!!

For the final product, I made the background and borders darker and added the words "try boston" and my company's name at the bottom to make it known this is an advertisement.  Overall for my second time using Photoshop, I don't think it turned out too bad.

FINAL...PREPARATION part 2

So it pretty much started with this picture above with an image I found online rendering the old Boston common.  I wanted to incorporate this in my poster because it shows everything I wanted to do in my presentation.  I wanted to show people can reach this place and experience this image as if they were there. So I continued to look around for images where I could bring with this to make it seem like you are going through a portal into the past.  And this is what I found:

This image came from the video game Bioshock: Infinite and plays perfectly to what I wanted to portray.  I wanted to blend the two images so it would look like the girl in this picture was walking through a portal to the past.  Alongside with this picture, I found this picture.

After finding these photos, I knew I had just about everything I needed to make my poster.  These two also came from the same videogame as the the photo above.  These characters, for the purpose of my poster and presentation, were going to represent my employees/technicians that would accompany the client with their journey to the past.  Since they wore the same outfit, I also decided to look the part for my presentation just to keep consistent with the poster.  I didn't take any photos when I was working on the actual poster but I did have copies of my progression blending the three images into one.

adding more layers and adding words and image 3

almost done with the poster.  added a generic background and border.  erased more of the edges so the images wouldn't look completely out of place.

Posters and Tourism Ideas

So I had an idea of putting together different aspects of myself into this project.  I wanted to show that I'm very interested in history, time traveling and pretty much anything that revolves around nostalgia.  My first idea was to do something along the lines of the video game Assassin's Creed.

This game, and it's later iterations, basically takes the player through the past by augmented reality through an ancestor. The difference between what I want to do and basically reiterating the video game is that you are following an ancestor or common folk and not an assassin.  So you would get to see and feel how it was like to live in those times.  You wouldn't be the one going around killing people or getting to see important events.  You would be the common living a day of what things used to down.

(not like this but basically emerging yourself in history through augmented reality)

I want to incorporate was a real world location but somewhere I would know some history about.  What better spot than the country I've been taught about since I was a child but the United States and more importantly, Boston.  I want to revolve this travel around Boston because I want people to see what the United States had looked like in its early development.

FINAL...PREPARATION part 1

Final

So what follows is my speech, or basic talking points on my final presentation.  I chose time traveling because why wouldn't someone like to know about their past? Whether it's their immediate history or the history of their home country.  I like learning from the past since it seems to creep up on us all the time in one fashion or another. pictures to come.

Company name is aurgo time: to show, make clear, attempt to show

It’s been a while since we’ve seen each other and obviously many things have changed.  For instance the way I dress and the lack of facial hair.  This is because I’m a grown up now.  But also because I’ve created a new way to explore and travel.  Many people offer places to go and things to see but very few times do you actually get to experience anything worthwhile.  This is what I offer you today.  I’ve found a way to travel through space and time without having to leave the comfort of your home.  This is no gimmick.  We do not put you into any kind of trance or give you any kind of pill. My devices allows the consumer to experience new places in any time they so choose in the past.  Let’s say today, here and now at sf state, you wanted see the history of this city. Want to experience the gold rush? Why not? Watch the herds of people flocking over to the California Rivers for their chance of wealth. Or maybe you’d like to go to the east coast.  Never been to New York? No problem. Go see the statue of liberty up close and personal. Or my personal preference, why not see how the United States was created? The American Revolution. With my travel agency, we can send you back into the 1700’s and watch the gathering of George Washington’s troops in the Boston common.  Or why not be a part of the liberation from the British by dumping tea into the Boston harbor?  Yes you heard that right. Why not actually participate in the actual event.  Of course since this is the past, you will not be able to contribute greatly to change any part of history.  You will merely be a ghost among the people getting to interact with the people but the moment your trip is over, the thought of you will vanish.  If fighting isn’t your style, head on over Faneuil hall market where the locals come by to get their everyday needs. After people watching and merchant buying, make your way over to the green tavern where the revolution leaders held their meetings and conspire by candle light.  Afterwards, go and sleep over at Paul revere’s house or follow him during his famous ride to warn of the incoming red coat invasion over to the old church north and beyond.  A must stop is the old state house where both the Boston massacre occurred and the first reading of the declaration of independence. And if none of this tickles your fancy, there is always Fenway Park where you can watch some of baseball’s greats.
